Description:Slappy Squirrel is this for some viewers in the short "I Got Yer Can", where she torments Candie Chipmunk to the point of driving her insane just for being reprimanded for dumping her trash in Candie's recycle bin. Although the short establishes that Candie is a bit self-righteous and preachy and had it coming , it doesn't justify the vast majority of the torment she goes through, with Slappy continuously tricking her into getting stuck with the soda can, yet the audience is apparently supposed to root for Slappy Squirrel just because she's the star and is the one who wins in the end. However, Disproportionate Retribution is Slappy's stock in trade , and Candie, if not escalating the situation, did keep perpetuating it early on by chucking the can at the back of Slappy's head after each of the first few pranks. While the Warners themselves are usually depicted as Karmic Tricksters who only torment and mess with people who deserve it , they occasionally cause problems unprovoked as well as annoy and inflict harm on people who haven't wronged them. The worst offender, however, would be in the Underdog spoof, where they prevent Thunderdog from rescuing the stand-in for Sweet Polly Purebred and cause him to suffer an injury that leaves his lower body deformed for life. And in "Acquaintances" they just behave in rather mean-spirited ways towards the Friends Expies, in a way that is completely unprovoked.
