Description:Foods to Eat, Foods to Avoid Comment from: May 27 I have now dealt with three anal fissures, two after giving birth and one recently for no apparent reason. When I had the first one I went to a surgeon who prescribed steroids, stool softeners, etc. A friend suggested a no-wheat, no-dairy diet. Literally two days later the pain was much less severe and within a week, almost gone.
